My name is Josh Saunders, and I’m the founder of BEFIT.

From this site, I’ll be sharing training advice, nutritional strategies, BEFIT news, random stories and rants – All aimed at providing you with the knowledge, motivation, and the inspiration to attain and maintain your health and fitness goals.

So who am I?

The first thing you should know about me is I am in the gym everyday making a difference in my client’s lives whether it be coaching sessions, personal training, talking about nutrition, writing blogs, or managing the business.

Whether it be helping someone lose 30lbs or just being the best part of their day (it’s still crazy to hear that from people), I understand that you will not make an impact without cultivating a positive environment underlined by passion.

These are the principles for which I founded my business The Bootcamp Effect in 2010. (We changed the name in 2017 to BEFIT as we felt our name, The Bootcamp Effect didn’t depict the level of training, service, and experience our members received from our fitness facility).

Now, almost 8 years later, our gym and community has flourished to become an extended family of approximately 400 members.

Through this time, I’ve trained and coached over 3000 individuals. This experience coupled with my relentless commitment to education and getting better everyday has essentially provided me with an unfair advantage of being able to quickly analyze and recognize patterns in client’s behaviour, nutrition, mobility, and movement.

Having committed my life to the fitness industry for the last 10 years, I absolutely have put in more than 10,000 hours to my craft. A craft that includes, assessments, coaching nutrition, mobility, strength training, conditioning, business management, and results… All traits that embody a successful and impactful fitness professional.

Most recently, I was voted best trainer in Langley, and our gym BEFIT has been voted the best gym in Langley for 6 consecutive years, so I understand how to consistently provide excellent service and evolve with the industry while staying true to the core values that my company was founded on.

A little background about me…

I have been involved in athletics since I could walk with my earliest memories playing golf in my backyard when I was 2. I have a degree in Biology from the University of Victoria with a wide breadth of coursework in Kinesiology. During university, I began regularly lifting weights and it transformed my body. After graduating, I decided to make a career out of my hobby and became certified in personal training and strength and conditioning by BCRPA and the NSCA. When I originally came upon the idea of an “indoor bootcamp”, it was lightning in a bottle, and the rest has been documented throughout this site.
